Campus Ministries The Office of the Chaplain includes: Campus Ministries, Student Missions, and Health Ministries. The Chaplain(Dean of the Chapel)coordinates religious life activities and programs for the campus, such as Chapel, Week in Spiritual Emphasis, and Friday Night Praise. The Chaplain is available for you to help you become involved or be present if you need someone to pray with you, or simply listen and offer spiritual support. Chapel Chapel is a time devoted to the nurture of the college commmunity and to the further definition of its goals and priorities. It is a weekly worship service providing an opportunity for the college community to pause and reflect on the Creator. Chapel is held on Wednesday mornings at 11:15 a.m. in the newly renovated Sligo Church sanctuary. Once a month it is held in various places on campus as Chapel4U which provides faculty, staff and students with a variety of worship experiences, including discussion groups, praise services, preaching services, and other spiritually-uplifting programming. Collegiate Worship ServiceCollegiate Worship Service is a weekly service for students sponsored by the chaplain's office. The program includes talks, music, role-playing, and fellowship. The "Summer Edition" which starts in the middle of May features special features and series especially relevant to young adults and college students. The service is held on Sabbath mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Richards Hall Chapel. Small Group Bible Experience Small Group is a weekly small group Bible study led by CUC students on campus. These student-led Bible study groups take place on various days of the week. Friday Night PraiseVespers is a worship service designed to end the week and greet the Sabbath with fellow CUC friends, faculty, and staff as well as the community. Health MinistriesHealth Ministries promotes the Adventist health message throughout the CUC community. HUG (Hands Under God)PuppetsHUG is a unique puppet ministry designed to touch lives of all ages. Loaves & FishersLoaves & Fishes gives students the opportunity to reach out to the needy with food and felowship from a mobile soup kitchen. Project SonshineProject Sonshine allows students to share fellowship and song with retired citizens in the local community nursing centers. Sabbath School Sabbath School is a weekly activity designed as an educational program to foster study and interest in spiritual topics. Sabbath School begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Sligo Church sanctuary. Sabbath SURGESabbath SURGE is an acronym -- Student Ultimate Re-energizing Growth Experience. These relaxing diversional activities are for CUC students on Sabbath afternoons SingspirationSingspiration is a student-led, spirit-filled worship experience meeting on Friday evenings at 8:30 p.m. in Morrison Hall Chapel. Worship credit is given. Visit the Singspiration site at www.singspiration.info. The Student Association Spiritual Vice President The SA Spiritual Vice President plans and participates in activities designed to minister to fellow students. Some of these activities include the student Week in Spiritual Emphasis, prayer breakfasts, and other activities under the supervision of the Chaplain and the Dean of Students. Student Volunteer MissionsStudentVolunteer Missions is a program which enables students to travel to various countries of the world and work as teachers, allied health assistants, librarians, business managers, and technicians for a small stipend. CUC developed the student missionary program in 1959. The Call Book, which lists opportunities for student missionaries overseas and taskforce workers in North America, is available in the Chaplain's Office. Witness DramaWitness Drama is CUC's traveling drama team which endeavors through their performances to testify of God's love and faithfulness. Worship CafeWorship Cafe is a worship option which focuses on building community and celebrating the gospel in a contemporary and creative setting on Friday evenings |
