The mission and vision of any nonprofit organization, especially an academic one, will continuously and necessarily ask of it the following questions: Why do we exist? and How are monies being spent? The latter inquiry is an easy task, if the answer to the first question is well-articulated.

The Department of Advancement seeks to express the heart of Columbia Union College–“a Chirstocentric vision that affirms the goodness of life, the value of earth, and the dignity of all peoples and cultures”–through a variety of activities and services. From the Offices of Alumni and Development (the Annual Fund, Gift Planning and Trust Services, Gift Records and Prospect Research) to Public Relations, Advancement holds itself accountable by keeping its eyes transfixed on the mission: changing and saving lives.

Alumni and Friends of CUC find many ways to invest in an “ethos of excellence.” CUC’s signature programs–Business, Communications, Music, Nursing and Health Science, Physical Education, Pre-law and Religion and Theology–provide wonderful investment opportunities for the passionate donor. Through major gifts, gift planning, the Annual Fund, and special events, individuals, partnerships, and corporations have contributed and pledged funds to secure CUC’s place among those institutions for higher learning that “produce graduates who bring competence and moral leadership to their communities.”
