The BSW program is offered as an off-campus program of Andrews University at Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD. The off-campus program is administered and delivered by the Andrews Univeristy Department of Social Work and upon completion the BSW is conferred by Andrews University. Both program options are accredited through 2011 by the Council on Social Work Education, Division of Standards and Education, 1725 Duke Street, Suite 500, Alexandria, VA 22314-2457, (703)519-2044. The foundation curriculum consists of five areas of emphasis that are required in Research, Porfessional Practice, and Practicum. Throughout the curriculum the program integrates concepts of professional ethics and values, critical thinking, and sensitvity to diversity, oppression, social and economic justice and populations at risk. The aim of the program is to prepare students to deliver professional services that will improve social conditions and develop resources in the settings in which they practice. MissionThe mission of the social work program is to prepare individuals for excellence during a lifetime of professional service and Christian compassion in action. |
