Liberal Studies FacultyJoan Francis, ChairIntroductionThe Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies seeks the intellectual development of students through an interdisciplinary study of issues and values in three areas: cultural studies, scientific studies, and societal studies. Cultural-studies courses in communication, ethics, literature, music, and philosophy seek to address questions such as our response as caring Christians to the skills and arts of civilization. Scientific-studies courses assist the student in forming a critical awareness of the complexity of issues in science, mathematics, astronomy, biology, and chemistry. Societal-studies courses in anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, religion, and sociology examine historical and current issues in society.
