External Degree
The External Degree Program is designed to meet the needs of students who find it difficult to finish a college degree during traditional weekday hours or within fixed class schedules. Students are able to pursue their degrees without being confined exclusively to class schedules or to a campus. Courses are offered via online or print. The program includes opportunities to earn college credit through credit-by-examination and professional portfolio assessment.

Non-degree-seeking students wishing to pursue individual courses for personal growth, certification, or to supplement a program that they are taking elsewhere, need not complete the degree program application, but should complete the following CUC Griggs University Enrollment Packet.


Through our distance learning programs, Columbia Union College enables students to earn college credits and prepare for the competitive market, anytime and anywhere. Students are able to pursue their degrees without being confined to traditional class schedules or to a campus. Through a collaborative effort with Griggs University, the Columbia Union College External Degree Program provides print-based courses leading to both bachelors and associate degrees.

Online Learning
Online Learning uses technology to facilitate learning without the constraints of time or place. Students can access course material, exchange ideas with faculty and other students, and submit course assignments via the Internet. Online courses allow students to earn college credits and prepare for the competitive market, anytime and anywhere. Students are able to pursue their degrees without being confined to traditional class schedules or to a campus. Online learning uses a schedule similar to the on-campus schedule, but offers the flexibility of learning at your own pace, within course deadlines.
